Behavior of Crack Generation of Slag in Continuous Solidification Process of Blast Furnace Slag

چکیده

A continuous solidification process of blast furnace slag was developed to promote the use air-cooled coarse aggregate for concrete. In this process, molten can solidify in only 120 s and thickness is about 25 mm. This suppresses gas generation greatly reduces water absorption. Most crystalline, part has a glass layer on its surface. Slag with brittle because it contains several cracks. Therefore, microscopic observation thermal stress analysis solidified were carried out clarify mechanism crack plate-like slag. observation, cracks length 8 mm found layer. From analysis, cooling pattern piled temperature difference 200 K exists between center mold side pit, keeping results tensile more than 50 MPa. However, crystalline slag, gradient pit very small retained as result, almost 0

The Study of Ion Adsorption by Amorphous Blast Furnace Slag

In this study, the blast furnace slag was used as absorbing bed and then, its ionic adsorption was studied. For this reason, various experimental parameters such as pH, contact time and the primary ion concentration were investigated. The remaining concentrations of ions such as; Mn2+ and Fe2+ in water were measured by atomic adsorption spectroscopy. The chemical and p...

Properties of Foamed Mortar Prepared with Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag

Foamed mortar with a density of 1300 kg/m³ was prepared. In the initial laboratory trials, water-to-cement (w/c) ratios ranging from 0.54 to 0.64 were tested to determine the optimal value for foamed mortar corresponding to the highest compressive strength without compromising its fresh state properties. With the obtained optimal w/c ratio of 0.56, two types of foamed mortar were prepared, name...

Ceramics from blast furnace slag, kaolin and quartz

Three new ceramic batches with no traditional fluxes and 30, 50 and 70 wt.% blast furnace slag were studied. The processes of phase formation and densification were estimated in non-isothermal conditions by differential thermal analysis and dilatometry, respectively. After that the degrees of sintering, obtained after heat-treatment at different temperatures and times, were evaluated measuring ...

Soil Stabilisation Using Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag

Stabilisation is a broad sense for the various methods employed and modifying the properties of a soil to improve its engineering performance and used for a variety of engineering works. In today‟s day soil stabilisation is the major problem for civil engineers, either for construction of road and also for increasing the strength or stability of soil and reduces the construction cost. In this t...
